Privacy Policy
App: Flash Beacon
Developer: Lighthouse Studios
Effective date: 2026-05-13
This Privacy Policy explains how Lighthouse Studios (“we”, “us”, “our”) processes information when you use the Flash Beacon mobile application (the “App”).
If you have questions, contact us at support@lighthousestudios.app.
Short version:
- No traditional account registration is required to use Flash Beacon.
- The App uses camera and location permissions to support the AR HUD and related session features.
- The App uses temporary session data stored in Firebase / Cloud Firestore so paired users can connect and locate each other during a session.
- Firebase anonymous authentication or similar temporary service identifiers may be used to operate, secure, update, and distinguish session participants.
- Payments are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage purchase entitlements and restore purchases.
- We do not run ads, do not use IDFA, and do not track you across apps or websites for advertising.
1) Who is responsible for your data?
Lighthouse Studios is responsible for information processed through the App.
Contact: support@lighthousestudios.app.
2) Information we process
Flash Beacon is designed to help users pair with another user and use visual and directional guidance features during an active session.
To do that, the App processes certain information described below.
2.1 Camera permission
If you use the AR HUD feature, the App requests access to your device camera in order to display the live camera preview behind the HUD interface while you point your phone toward your paired user.
- What we use it for: displaying the AR HUD / camera-based guidance interface on your device.
- What we do not currently do: we do not intentionally upload, record, or store your camera feed on our servers as part of the App’s current functionality.
2.2 Location permission
The App requests location access to estimate direction and distance between paired users and to support map-opening functionality.
- What we use it for: directional guidance, approximate distance calculations, session positioning, and opening your location in a maps application.
- Session use: during an active session, location-related values may be written to temporary session records so the host and guest can connect and use the App’s guidance features.
2.3 Temporary session data
When you create or join a session, the App may process and temporarily store session-related information in Firebase / Cloud Firestore, including:
- Session code and session status information.
- Temporary participant identifiers such as anonymous app-generated identifiers, Firebase anonymous authentication identifiers, or similar service-level identifiers used to operate and secure a session.
- Display names entered for session use.
- Session timestamps such as creation, update, and expiration times.
- Location-related session values used to estimate direction and distance between paired users.
- In-session visual settings such as selected pin color or similar session-display information, where applicable.
2.4 Purchases and subscriptions
If you purchase paid content, subscriptions, or restore purchases, purchase-related information is processed to unlock and maintain your entitlements.
- Purchase information such as product purchased, entitlement status, and restore status.
- Anonymous app user identifier used by the purchase service to manage and restore entitlements.
Apple processes payments and billing. We do not receive your full payment card details.
2.5 Technical information
We and our service providers may process limited technical information needed to operate the App, such as app version, device/OS information, basic network or request metadata, and limited diagnostics related to app functionality, purchases, session reliability, abuse prevention, or service reliability.
2.6 What we do not currently use for this version of the App
- No traditional account registration or permanent user profile is required.
- No advertising tracking and no IDFA-based targeted advertising.
- No contact list access.
- No microphone access.
- No health data processing.
3) How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide core functionality such as pairing users, creating/joining sessions, showing the AR HUD, and estimating direction and distance.
- Support temporary session operation while a session is active, including distinguishing host and guest participants and maintaining session updates.
- Unlock and restore purchases and maintain subscription or in-app purchase entitlements.
- Improve reliability and security and prevent misuse, abuse, unauthorized session access, or service disruption.
- Respond to support requests and investigate app or purchase-related issues.
- Comply with legal obligations where applicable.
4) Service providers and sharing
We share information only with service providers needed to operate the App and its features.
-
Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore / related Firebase services — used to store and process temporary session data required for pairing, session functionality, and session security, and may include anonymous authentication or service-level identifiers.
-
RevenueCat, Inc. — used to manage in-app purchase and subscription entitlements, validate purchase status, and support restore purchases.
-
Apple — processes App Store payments and billing, and provides platform-level services related to permissions, purchases, and device functionality.
-
Apple Maps or another maps provider on your device — if you choose to open map functionality from within the App, the selected maps application may process location-related information under its own terms and privacy policy.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share information for targeted advertising.
5) Legal bases (EEA/UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we generally process information under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract — to provide the App’s requested functionality, including sessions, purchases, and restore functions.
- Legitimate interests — to maintain app security, reliability, abuse prevention, session integrity, and support.
- Consent — where device permissions such as camera or location access are requested by the App and granted by you.
- Legal obligation — where processing is required by applicable law.
6) Data retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.
- Temporary session data is intended to be short-lived and is typically retained only until a session is cancelled, expires, or is removed through routine backend cleanup processes.
- Purchase and entitlement records may be retained as needed to support restore purchases, fraud prevention, accounting, and compliance.
- Support communications may be retained as needed to resolve your request and maintain reasonable business records.
7) International transfers
Our service providers may process information on servers located outside your country of residence.
Where required by law, appropriate safeguards are used for international data transfers.
8) Your choices and rights
- You can deny or revoke camera and location permissions in your device settings.
- You can stop using session features that require those permissions.
- You can manage, cancel, or restore App Store subscriptions and purchases through Apple’s systems, where applicable.
Depending on your location, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or objection to certain processing of your information.
Because the App does not require a traditional account, we may need enough context to identify the relevant records, such as session details, approximate dates, support correspondence, or other information you provide to help us locate relevant data.
To exercise privacy rights, contact us at support@lighthousestudios.app.
If you are in the EEA/UK, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9) Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
We will update the Effective date above and publish the revised version at this URL.
